Basil – Basilico, Nono Compatto a Palla Greco

Ocimum basilicum, Annual

Dwarf Greek basil’s 6” compact plant grows into a dense, spherical bush covered with thin, dark green leaves. Its distinct flavor is similar to anise. An excellent choice for containers.

 

Mesclun Salad Mix – Misticanza o Miscuglio di Insalate

Mixed Varieties

A delectable mix of sweet lettuces, flavorful endives and chicory in a delightful assortment of colors and textures.

 

Arugula – Rucola, Cultivata

Eruca sativa, Annual

Also known as rocket or roquette, arugula’s tasty young leaves add a delightful spicy flavor to fresh salads and pasta sauces. Very easy and quick to grow. Plant every three weeks for a constant source of greens.

 

Dandelion – Dente di Leon

Taraxacum offininalis

A perennial vegetable with long, deep-toothed leaves and yellow flowers. Leaves are traditionally eaten raw or cooked like spinach. Flowers are high in vitamin C and used in salads or to flavor wine and vinegar.

 

Lettuce – Lattuga, Romana Bionda Degli Ortolani

Lactuca sativa

Sweet and crisp, with light green leaves and white ribs. The classic lettuce for Caesar salad. Large outer leaves can be used as a wrap.

 

Oregano - Origano

Organum vulgare, Perennial

A perennial herb in the mint family that produces dark green leaves and aromatic white flowers that attract bees. Hardy and easy to grow. Perfect for containers. Oregano is an important culinary herb in Italian cuisine, used for seasoning meats and tomato dishes.

 

Onion – Cipolla, Pompei Bianca per Sott’aceto

Allium cepa

Small, firm bulbs with white skin and sweet, white flesh. An early variety suitable for pickling.
